The Japanese Institute is Europe¹s leading private language school teaching Asian Languages and Business practices, both in Europe and Asia, to over2,500 clients annually, representing 60,000 hours of tuition.

Founded in Paris in 1993 by a highly qualified team of native Japanese instructors, The Institute has since revolutionized the teaching of Asian languages.

By daring to apply innovative, modern techniques to the teaching of languages which had hitherto been taught as if they were ancient Greek, we have made learning an Asian language easier : we like our graduates to be able to speak out in their new language with confidence and clarity.

In 1995, long before it became fashionable to do so, The Japanese Institute adapted their exclusive Japanese texts and supports to the teaching of Chinese and all other Asian languages. As a result, the Japanese Institute has developed an enviable experience in Chinese which now respresents over 40% of its clientele.

Structured around the needs of our clients, the Institute comprises two distinct divisions : Corporate and General Public.

Our orporate division provides a full range of services for companies. From language training, cross-cultural training, HR consulting through translating and PR, our corporate services all have a central theme : ensuring companies succeed in Asia.

Their success has become our success, with 4 out of 10 companies comprising the top thirty of the FT Global 500 index and 90% of the French CAC40 index selecting the Japanese Institute¹s expertise. Indeed, the Institute has been for 10 years, the exclusive partner for the largest western investment in Asia to date. However, our team is proud to offer its personalised service to over 500 private and public sector organisations, of every size.
Through our local subsidiaries in Japan and China, company clients can start, complete or transfer temporarily their courses between Europe and Asia, all of which is coordinated by the Japanese Institute¹s team of Global Account Managers, whose job is to make this happen seamlessly.

Japanese and Chinese Courses for the General Public show another facet of the Japanese Institute. Making use of the Institute¹s exclusive texts and methods and taught by members of our 80 strong professionaly trained teaching team, every year the Institute organises 140 groups at all language levels.

The Institute adds a cultural dimension to these courses by organising linguistic exchanges and meetings with Japanese and Chinese people who wish to converse with westerners.

Every year we send over 250 people, some of whom are our students in Paris, to learn either Japanese at our schools in Tokyo and Kyoto or Chinese at those in Beijing or Shanghai. Through our membership of Unosel which is itself a member of FELCA (The Federation of Education and Language Consulting Associations), the Institute adheres to a strict code of conduct, thereby guaranteeing both a successful period of study and up to standard accommodation. Language holidays are available for durations from 3 weeks to 2 years, in the later case with a student visa.
